The short version
- Your chats are stored in your browser, not on Arden's servers.
- Your account is a wallet address. If you sign in with Google, X, Apple and more, our sign-in provider holds that login, not Arden.
- Messages are sent to the AI model you pick, without your wallet address or any other identifier.
- Arden's servers keep no prompts, replies or memories. Only token counts, for billing.
- No analytics, no advertising trackers, no cookies.
What stays in your browser
Conversations, generated images, custom instructions, characters and memories are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. Arden's servers don't keep a copy. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them, so export a backup from Settings if you want to keep them.
When you share a chat or character, your browser encrypts it and Arden stores only the encrypted copy. The key is in the link after the #, which browsers never send to a server, so Arden can't read it. Anyone you give the link to can. If the upload isn't possible, the link carries the whole chat instead and nothing is stored.
What Arden stores on its servers
- Your wallet address, and the sign-in messages you signed with it.
- Balance and payments: your credit balance, and the transaction hash and amount of each USDG top-up, so it can be checked on-chain and credited once.
- Usage records: for each request, the model used, the number of tokens, the cost and the time. Never the content of your messages or the replies.
- Encrypted sync, only if you turn it on. Your chats and memories are encrypted in your browser with a passphrase that never leaves your device. Arden stores the encrypted file against your wallet address and can't read it.
- Shared links: the encrypted copy of anything you share, with no record of who shared it. Arden can't read it without the link. Shares are deleted after a year.
- API keys: the name, the first few characters and a one-way hash of each key. The full key is shown to you once and not stored.
- Referrals: which wallet invited which, if you used or shared an invite code.
- $ARDEN holdings: for signed-in wallets, Arden reads token balances from the public blockchain to work out holder perks. These readings are deleted after 48 hours.
What goes to AI and search providers
Arden doesn't run the models itself. When you send a message, your conversation (with your instructions, saved memories if Memory is on, and any search results) goes through OpenRouter to the company that serves the model you picked. Arden doesn't send your wallet address, IP address or any user ID with it.
Those providers handle the request under their own policies, and some may keep it for a time. Where a model is labelled Private, it's only sent to providers that don't keep prompts. Otherwise, assume the provider may keep them for a while, without knowing who sent them.
Before a request goes to the model, an automated safety check (also through OpenRouter) reviews the conversation for the few things Arden never allows: sexual content involving minors, sexual content about real people, and serious illegal harm. Image prompts are checked the same way.
Images: your prompt and settings go to Venice, which generates the image. The image comes straight back to your browser and isn't stored on Arden's servers.
Web search is off unless you turn it on for a message. Then only the search query is sent to our search provider, Tavily. Your chat history and memories are not.
Signing in with Google, X, Apple and more
This option is run by Privy, our sign-in provider. Privy stores your email address or social account and creates a wallet for you, which Privy describes as self-custodial: neither Privy nor Arden can access its key. Arden's servers only ever receive your wallet address, never your email.
You can export the wallet's private key from the account menu at any time and use it in another wallet app. Privy's own privacy policy covers the data it holds.
Free messages without a wallet
To stop bots, the free tier uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP address to run its check. Arden keeps a random guest ID in your browser and, to enforce the daily limit, a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address rather than the address itself.
Wallets and the blockchain
Top-ups are ordinary transfers on Robinhood Chain, so they're public on the blockchain like any other transaction. Your wallet app and the chain's RPC provider see the requests your wallet makes. If you connect with WalletConnect, Reown relays the connection between this site and your wallet.
Logs, analytics and cookies
Arden doesn't log the content of your requests. Our hosting providers (Netlify for the website, Railway for the API) keep standard server logs, such as IP address, time and page requested, for security and reliability.
Arden uses no analytics, no advertising trackers and no cookies. If you sign in with Google, X, Apple and more, Privy keeps its own sign-in session in your browser.
Age
Arden is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
Changes
If what Arden stores or shares changes, this page will be updated first, with a new date at the top.
